Locate the Hood Release Lever

The hood release lever is typically located inside the car, on the driver’s side. It is usually a small, plastic lever that is labeled with a hood icon.

Pull the Hood Release Lever

Once you have located the hood release lever, pull it towards you. This will release the hood latch.

Lift the Hood

Once the hood latch is released, you can lift the hood. Be careful not to lift it too far, as the hood is connected to the car by a safety cable.

Prop the Hood Open

To keep the hood open, use the hood prop rod. The hood prop rod is usually located in the engine compartment. Insert the hood prop rod into the designated hole on the hood and lift it up to prop the hood open.

Close the Hood

To close the hood, simply lower it until it clicks into place. Make sure that the hood is fully closed before driving your car.
