How to Degrease a Car Engine with Commercial Degreaser

Safety first! Wear gloves and eye protection when working with degreaser.
Apply the degreaser. Pour the degreaser into a bucket and apply it to the engine with a sponge or brush. Be sure to avoid getting any degreaser on the paint or plastic parts of the car.
Let the degreaser sit. Allow the degreaser to sit on the engine for the amount of time specified on the product label. This will give the degreaser time to break down the grease and grime.
Rinse the engine. Use a hose to rinse the degreaser off the engine. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove all of the degreaser.
Dry the engine. Use a clean rag to dry the engine. This will help to prevent the engine from rusting.

For best results, degrease the engine when it is warm. This will help to melt the grease and make it easier to remove.
If the engine is very greasy, you may need to apply the degreaser twice.
