- New oil filter
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel

Safety Precautions
Before you begin, make sure to take the following safety precautions:
- Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
- Allow the engine to cool completely.
- Wear gloves and safety glasses to protect yourself from hot oil.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Locate the Oil Drain Plug
The oil drain plug is usually located on the bottom of the oil pan. It is typically a bolt with a washer.
2. Place the Oil Drain Pan
Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.
3. Loosen the Oil Drain Plug
Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.
4. Allow the Oil to Drain
Allow the oil to drain completely into the oil drain pan. This may take several minutes.
5. Replace the Oil Drain Plug
Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
6. Locate the Oil Filter
The oil filter is usually located near the top of the engine. It is a cylindrical-shaped component with a black cap.
7. Remove the Oil Filter
Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
8. Apply a Thin Layer of Oil to the Gasket
Before installing the new oil filter, apply a thin layer of oil to the gasket.
9. Install the New Oil Filter
Screw the new oil filter onto the engine by hand until it is snug. Then, use the wrench to tighten it an additional 3/4 turn.
10. Add New Engine Oil
Use the funnel to add new engine oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil specified in your owner’s manual.
11. Check the Oil Level
Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the “full” and “add” marks on the dipstick.
12. Start the Engine and Check for Leaks
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the oil drain plug and oil filter.
Congratulations!
