Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Remove the oil pan

  1. Place a drain pan under the oil pan.
  2. Remove the oil pan bolts.
  3. Carefully lower the oil pan.

2. Remove the crankshaft

  1. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  2. Remove the crankshaft damper.
  3. Remove the crankshaft bolts.
  4. Carefully lift the crankshaft out of the engine.

3. Remove the old main bearings

  1. Use a hammer and punch to drive the old main bearings out of the engine block.

4. Install the new main bearings

  1. Lubricate the new main bearings with engine oil.
  2. Carefully insert the new main bearings into the engine block.
  3. Use a hammer and punch to drive the new main bearings into place.

5. Install the crankshaft

  1. Carefully lower the crankshaft into the engine block.
  2. Install the crankshaft bolts.
  3. Tighten the crankshaft bolts to the specified torque.

6. Install the crankshaft damper

  1. Install the crankshaft damper on the crankshaft.
  2. Tighten the crankshaft damper bolt to the specified torque.

7. Install the crankshaft pulley

  1. Install the crankshaft pulley on the crankshaft.
  2. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to the specified torque.

8. Install the oil pan

  1. Apply a new oil pan gasket to the oil pan.
  2. Carefully lift the oil pan into place.
  3. Install the oil pan bolts.
  4. Tighten the oil pan bolts to the specified torque.

9. Fill the engine with oil

  1. Fill the engine with the specified amount of engine oil.

10. Install the oil filter

  1. Install a new oil filter on the engine.

11. Connect the negative battery terminal

  1. Connect the negative battery terminal to the battery.

12. Start the engine

  1. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Tips

  • Use a torque wrench to tighten all bolts to the specified torque.
  • Be careful not to damage the crankshaft or engine block when removing or installing the main bearings.
