Engine Block

The engine block is the main structural component of an engine. It contains the cylinders, which are the chambers in which the pistons move up and down. The engine block also contains the crankshaft, which converts the up-and-down motion of the pistons into rotary motion.

Cylinder Head

The cylinder head is located at the top of the engine block and seals the combustion chambers. It contains the valves, which control the flow of air and fuel into and out of the cylinders. The cylinder head also contains the spark plugs, which ignite the air-fuel mixture.

Pistons

Pistons are cylindrical-shaped components that move up and down within the cylinders. They are connected to the crankshaft by connecting rods. As the crankshaft rotates, the pistons move up and down, compressing the air-fuel mixture and then expanding it to create power.

Connecting Rods

Connecting rods are the components that connect the pistons to the crankshaft. They allow the pistons to move up and down while still transmitting their motion to the crankshaft.

Crankshaft

The crankshaft is a rotating shaft that is located at the bottom of the engine block. It converts the up-and-down motion of the pistons into rotary motion. The crankshaft is connected to the transmission, which sends the power to the wheels.

Camshaft

The camshaft is a shaft that is located at the top of the engine block. It controls the opening and closing of the valves. The camshaft is driven by the crankshaft through a timing belt or chain.

Valves

Valves are components that control the flow of air and fuel into and out of the cylinders. They are located in the cylinder head and are opened and closed by the camshaft.

Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are components that ignite the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders. They are located in the cylinder head and create a spark that ignites the mixture.

Intake Manifold

The intake manifold is a component that delivers air and fuel to the cylinders. It is located on the top of the engine block and is connected to the carburetor or fuel injector.

Exhaust Manifold

The exhaust manifold is a component that collects the exhaust gases from the cylinders and directs them to the exhaust system. It is located on the bottom of the engine block and is connected to theマフラー.

Turbocharger

A turbocharger is a device that uses the exhaust gases from the engine to spin a turbine, which in turn drives a compressor. The compressor then forces more air into the cylinders, which increases the power of the engine.

Supercharger

A supercharger is a device that uses a belt or chain to drive a compressor, which forces more air into the cylinders. This increases the power of the engine.
