KU Engineering Career Fair

About the Fair

The KU Engineering Career Fair is an annual event that brings together engineering students from all years with potential employers. The fair is a great opportunity for students to network with professionals, learn about different career paths, and find internships and full-time jobs.

Who Should Attend

All KU engineering students are encouraged to attend the career fair. This includes students from all years, majors, and backgrounds. The fair is also open to alumni and non-KU students.

How to Prepare

Here are some tips on how to prepare for the career fair:

  • Research potential employers: Visit the career fair website to see a list of participating employers. Research each employer to learn about their company culture, job openings, and hiring process.
  • Prepare your resume: Make sure your resume is up-to-date and tailored to the jobs you’re interested in. You can get your resume reviewed by the KU Career Center.
  • Practice your elevator pitch: An elevator pitch is a brief, 30-second introduction that highlights your skills and experience. Practice your elevator pitch so that you can confidently introduce yourself to potential employers.
  • Dress professionally: First impressions matter, so dress professionally for the career fair. This means wearing a suit or business casual attire.

What to Expect

The career fair will be held in the Kansas Union on September 14, 2023 from 10am to 4pm. The fair will be divided into two sections: a general session and an industry-specific session.

The general session will be held from 10am to 12pm. This session is open to all students and will feature employers from a variety of industries.

The industry-specific session will be held from 1pm to 4pm. This session is designed for students who are interested in specific industries, such as aerospace, manufacturing, or energy. The industry-specific session will feature employers from those industries.

How to Follow Up

After the career fair, it’s important to follow up with the employers you met. Send a thank-you note to each employer and reiterate your interest in their company. You can also follow up on LinkedIn to stay connected.
