How to Rev the Engine in a Manual Car
1. Start the engine.
Before you can rev the engine, you need to start the car. To do this, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “on” position. Then, press the clutch pedal all the way down and turn the key to the “start” position. The engine will start running.
2. Put the car in neutral.
Once the engine is running, put the car in neutral. To do this, move the gear shift lever to the center position. This will disengage the transmission from the engine, allowing the engine to rev freely.
3. Press the gas pedal.
To rev the engine, press the gas pedal. The more you press the pedal, the higher the engine will rev. Be careful not to press the pedal too far, as this can damage the engine.
4. Listen to the engine.
As you press the gas pedal, listen to the engine. The engine will make a different sound as it revs higher. You can use this sound to gauge how high the engine is revving.
5. Shift gears.
Once the engine has reached the desired RPM, you can shift gears. To do this, release the gas pedal and press the clutch pedal all the way down. Then, move the gear shift lever to the desired gear. Finally, release the clutch pedal and press the gas pedal again.
