Step 1: Park the car on a level surface and turn off the engine.

This will help to prevent the oil from spilling when you drain it.

Step 2: Open the hood and locate the oil dipstick.

The oil dipstick is usually a bright color and has a ring on the end. It is typically located near the front of the engine.

Step 3: Pull out the oil dipstick and wipe it clean.

Use a clean rag or paper towel to wipe off any oil that is on the dipstick.

Step 4: Insert the oil dipstick back into the engine and pull it out again.

The oil level should be between the two marks on the dipstick. If the oil level is low, you will need to add oil.

Step 5: Locate the oil filler cap.

The oil filler cap is usually located on the top of the engine. It is a black or silver cap with a symbol of an oil can on it.

Step 6: Open the oil filler cap and add oil.

Use a funnel to add oil to the engine. Add oil until the oil level is between the two marks on the dipstick.

Step 7: Replace the oil filler cap and dipstick.

Make sure the oil filler cap is tight and the dipstick is fully inserted.

Step 8: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

This will help to circulate the oil throughout the engine.

Step 9: Check the oil level again.

Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the two marks on the dipstick.

Tips:

  • Check the oil level regularly, especially before long trips.
  • Change the oil and oil filter according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Use the correct type of oil for your engine.
  • Dispose of used oil properly.
