Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
This will allow the oil to settle to the bottom of the oil pan.
2. Open the hood and locate the oil dipstick.
The oil dipstick is usually a yellow or orange handle located near the front of the engine.
3. Pull out the oil dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
This will give you a clean surface to check the oil level.
4. Reinsert the oil dipstick and pull it out again.
The oil level should be between the “min” and “max” marks on the dipstick.
5. If the oil level is low, add oil to the engine.
Use a funnel to pour the oil into the oil filler cap, which is usually located on the top of the engine.
6. Add oil a little at a time and check the oil level frequently.
You don’t want to overfill the engine with oil.
7. Once the oil level is correct, replace the oil filler cap and dipstick.
Tighten the oil filler cap securely.
