How to Put a New Engine in Your Car
Step 1: Gather Your Tools and Materials
- New engine
- Engine hoist
- Engine stand
- Wrench set
- Socket set
- Screwdriver set
- Pliers
- Hammer
- Chisel
- Oil filter wrench
- Coolant drain pan
- New engine oil
- New engine coolant
- New spark plugs
- New belts and hoses
Step 2: Remove the Old Engine
- Disconnect the battery.
- Drain the engine oil and coolant.
- Remove the air filter housing.
- Disconnect the fuel lines.
- Disconnect the exhaust system.
- Disconnect the electrical wiring harness.
- Remove the transmission.
- Attach the engine hoist to the engine.
- Lift the engine out of the car.
Step 3: Install the New Engine
- Lower the new engine into the car.
- Attach the transmission.
- Connect the electrical wiring harness.
- Connect the exhaust system.
- Connect the fuel lines.
- Install the air filter housing.
- Pour in the new engine oil.
- Fill the radiator with the new engine coolant.
- Install the new spark plugs.
- Install the new belts and hoses.
- Reconnect the battery.
Step 4: Start the Engine and Check for Leaks
- Start the engine.
- Check for any leaks.
- If there are no leaks, drive the car around for a few days to break in the new engine.
