How to Open the Engine Compartment on a Smart Car

If you need to access the engine compartment of your Smart Car, you’ll need to know how to open it. Here are the steps you need to follow:

The front hood release lever is located on the driver’s side of the footwell, near the bottom of the dashboard.

Pull the front hood release lever towards you. This will release the latch that holds the hood closed.

Once the hood latch is released, you can open the hood by lifting it up from the front.

Prop the hood open with the hood prop rod. The hood prop rod is located in the engine compartment, near the front of the car.

To close the hood, simply lower it down until it latches into place.

If you’re having trouble opening the hood, make sure that the front hood release lever is pulled all the way towards you.
If the hood is still not opening, you may need to lubricate the hood latch. You can use a silicone-based lubricant or a spray lubricant.
Never open the hood if the engine is running.
