Ingredients:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can (14 ounces) chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 cup candy melts
  • 1/4 cup sprinkles
  • 1 toy car

Instructions:

Step 1: Bake the cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, oil, and eggs.
  4. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes, or until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 2: Frost the cake

  1. Once the cake has cooled completely, spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the top.

Step 3: Create the pistons

  1. Melt the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  2. Pour the melted candy melts into a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
  3. Pipe 8-10 small circles onto a piece of parchment paper.
  4. Refrigerate for 15 minutes, or until hardened.

Step 4: Create the engine block

  1. Use a sharp knife to cut the cake into the shape of an engine block.
  2. Place the cake on a serving plate.

Step 5: Assemble the engine

  1. Attach the pistons to the engine block by inserting them into the holes in the top of the cake.
  2. Place the toy car on top of the engine.
  3. Sprinkle the sprinkles around the engine.

Enjoy your car engine cake!
