How to Make a Car Engine Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 can (14 ounces) chocolate frosting
- 1/2 cup candy melts
- 1/4 cup sprinkles
- 1 toy car
Instructions:
Step 1: Bake the cake
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, oil, and eggs.
- Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes, or until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 2: Frost the cake
- Once the cake has cooled completely, spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the top.
Step 3: Create the pistons
- Melt the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
- Pour the melted candy melts into a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
- Pipe 8-10 small circles onto a piece of parchment paper.
- Refrigerate for 15 minutes, or until hardened.
Step 4: Create the engine block
- Use a sharp knife to cut the cake into the shape of an engine block.
- Place the cake on a serving plate.
Step 5: Assemble the engine
- Attach the pistons to the engine block by inserting them into the holes in the top of the cake.
- Place the toy car on top of the engine.
- Sprinkle the sprinkles around the engine.
