How to Install an Engine into a Lincoln Town Car
Tools and Materials
- Engine hoist
- Engine stand
- Transmission jack
- Floor jack
- Jack stands
- Socket wrench set
- Allen wrench set
- Torque wrench
- Oil filter wrench
- Coolant drain pan
- New engine oil
- New engine coolant
- New spark plugs
- New belts
- New hoses
Preparation
- Disconnect the battery.
- Drain the coolant from the radiator.
- Remove the air cleaner.
- Remove the intake manifold.
- Remove the exhaust manifolds.
- Remove the starter.
- Remove the alternator.
- Remove the power steering pump.
- Remove the air conditioning compressor.
- Remove the fuel injection system.
- Remove the transmission.
Engine Installation
- Place the engine on the engine stand.
- Attach the engine hoist to the engine.
- Position the engine over the engine bay.
- Lower the engine into the engine bay.
- Attach the transmission to the engine.
- Attach the exhaust manifolds to the engine.
- Attach the intake manifold to the engine.
- Attach the starter to the engine.
- Attach the alternator to the engine.
- Attach the power steering pump to the engine.
- Attach the air conditioning compressor to the engine.
- Attach the fuel injection system to the engine.
- Install the air cleaner.
- Fill the engine with oil.
- Fill the radiator with coolant.
- Replace the spark plugs.
- Replace the belts.
- Replace the hoses.
- Reconnect the battery.
Testing
- Start the engine.
- Check for leaks.
- Test drive the vehicle.
