How to Change Engine Oil in i10 Car
Safety First
Before you start, it’s important to take some safety precautions. Make sure the car is parked on a level surface and that the engine is turned off and cool. You should also wear gloves and safety glasses to protect yourself from hot oil and fluids.
Tools and Materials
You will need the following tools and materials:
* New engine oil (check your owner’s manual for the recommended type and amount)
* New oil filter
* Oil drain pan
* Funnel
* Rags
* Wrench
* Screwdriver
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Locate the oil drain plug. The oil drain plug is usually located on the bottom of the oil pan. It is a bolt with a washer around it.
- Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug. Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the oil that will drain out.
- Loosen the oil drain plug. Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.
- Allow the oil to drain. Allow all of the oil to drain out of the oil pan. This may take a few minutes.
- Replace the oil drain plug. Once all of the oil has drained out, replace the oil drain plug. Tighten the plug until it is snug.
- Locate the oil filter. The oil filter is usually located near the top of the engine. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a black cap.
- Remove the oil filter. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
- Apply a thin layer of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
- Screw on the new oil filter. Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug. Do not overtighten the filter.
- Add new engine oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add new engine oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil specified in your owner’s manual.
- Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the “min” and “max” marks on the dipstick.
Tips
* If you are not comfortable changing the engine oil yourself, you can take your car to a mechanic.
* It is important to change your engine oil regularly. Check your owner’s manual for the recommended oil change interval.
* If you notice any leaks or other problems with your engine oil, be sure to have it checked by a mechanic as soon as possible.
