## How to Build a Car Engine in Minecraft

Materials

– **Pistons (9)**
– **Iron Blocks (27)**
– **Hoppers (3)**
– **Redstone (21)**
– **Redstone Repeaters (3)**
– **Redstone Comparators (2)**
– **Slime Blocks (7)**
– **Sticky Pistons (2)**
– **Pistons (2)**
– **Buttons (2)**
– **Levers (2)**
– **Spark Plugs (4)**

Instructions

Preparing the Foundation

1. **Create a 7×7 base:** Lay down 49 iron blocks in a 7×7 square.

2. **Add a 3×3 piston array:** Place 9 pistons in a 3×3 square in the center of the iron base.

3. **Place hoppers beneath pistons:** Place 3 hoppers beneath the center, left, and right pistons.

Creating the Cylinder Heads

1. **Build a 5×5 frame:** Surround the piston array with 25 iron blocks to create a 5×5 frame.

2. **Place slime blocks on top:** Place 4 slime blocks on top of the iron frame, one on each side of the center pistons.

3. **Connect hoppers to pistons:** Connect the hoppers beneath the pistons to the slime blocks using redstone dust.

Installing the Timing Mechanism

1. **Place redstone repeaters:** Place 3 redstone repeaters on the hoppers, facing outward. Set the delay to 4 ticks.

2. **Wire the repeaters:** Connect the repeaters to each other using redstone dust.

Configuring the Ignition System

1. **Place redstone comparators:** Place 2 redstone comparators on top of the iron blocks, facing outward.

2. **Connect the comparators:** Connect the comparator outputs to each other using redstone dust.

3. **Place spark plugs:** Place 4 spark plugs on the slime blocks, two on each side.

4. **Wire the spark plugs:** Connect the spark plugs to the comparator outputs using redstone dust.

Installing the Fuel System

1. **Place buttons:** Place 2 buttons on the iron blocks, one on each side of the center pistons.

2. **Wire the buttons:** Connect the buttons to the hoppers using redstone dust.

Completing the Engine

1. **Place sticky pistons:** Place 2 sticky pistons on the iron blocks, facing upward.

2. **Place pistons:** Place 2 pistons on the sticky pistons, facing upward.

3. **Add levers:** Place 2 levers on the iron blocks, one on each side of the center pistons.

Operation

1. **Press the buttons:** Press the buttons to activate the hoppers. This will fill the pistons with items (e.g., coal or blaze rods).

2. **Flip the levers:** Flip the levers to activate the pistons. This will push the items into the cylinder heads, creating a spark from the spark plugs and igniting the fuel.

3. **Observe the engine:** The engine will start running and generating energy. The pistons will move up and down, driving the crankshaft (not shown in this design).

Additional Features

– **RPM Control:** By adjusting the delay on the redstone repeaters, you can control the engine’s RPM.
– **Fuel Injection:** You can add a hopper system to automatically feed the pistons with fuel.
– **Cooling System:** You can incorporate water buckets or ice blocks to provide cooling for the engine.
– **Exhaust System:** You can connect the hoppers to a chimney or pipe to exhaust the fuel byproducts.
