Safety Precautions
- Wear safety glasses.
- Wear gloves.
- Do not work under the engine hoist when it is raised.
- Be aware of the weight of the engine and the hoist’s lifting capacity.
Instructions
- Position the engine hoist. Place the engine hoist next to the engine. The hoist should be positioned so that the lifting hook is directly above the engine’s center of gravity.
- Attach the engine hoist chain to the engine. Wrap the engine hoist chain around the engine’s lifting points. The lifting points are usually located on the engine’s cylinder head or block.
- Attach the engine hoist lifting hook to the engine hoist chain. Connect the engine hoist lifting hook to the engine hoist chain. The lifting hook should be securely attached to the chain.
- Raise the engine. Slowly raise the engine using the engine hoist. Be careful not to raise the engine too quickly or too high. The engine should be raised only high enough to clear the ground.
- Secure the engine. Once the engine is raised, secure it to the engine hoist using a chain or strap. This will prevent the engine from falling if the hoist fails.
Tips
- Use a level to make sure the engine is level before raising it.
- If the engine is heavy, use a helper to assist you.
- Be patient and take your time. Safety should always be your top priority.
Troubleshooting
- The engine is not level. Adjust the engine hoist’s legs to level the engine.
- The engine is too heavy. Use a helper to assist you or use a larger engine hoist.
- The hoist is not working. Check the hoist’s power cord and make sure the hoist is properly plugged in. If the hoist is still not working, contact the manufacturer.
