1964-1968: Honda RA271-RA302

Honda’s first Formula 1 car was the RA271, which debuted at the 1964 German Grand Prix. The car was powered by a 1.5-liter V12 engine and was driven by Ronnie Bucknum and Richie Ginther. The RA271 was not particularly competitive, but it did show promise, and Honda continued to develop the car throughout the 1960s.

1988-1992: Honda RA108E-RA122E

In 1988, Honda introduced the RA108E, which was powered by a 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine. The RA108E was driven by Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger. The RA108E was very competitive, and it won six races in 1988, the Monaco Grand Prix, the Canadian Grand Prix, the French Grand Prix, the British Grand Prix, the German Grand Prix, and the Hungarian Grand Prix.

In 1989, Honda introduced the RA109E, which was a minor improvement over the RA108E. The RA109E was powered by a 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine and was driven by Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger. The RA109E was not as competitive as the RA108E, but it did win two races in 1989, the San Marino Grand Prix and the Monaco Grand Prix.

In 1990, Honda introduced the RA120E, which was a major improvement over the RA109E. The RA120E was powered by a 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine and was driven by Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger. The RA120E was very competitive, and it won five races in 1990
