K-State Engineering Career Fair
The K-State Engineering Career Fair is an annual event that brings together top engineering employers from across the country with K-State engineering students. The fair is a great opportunity for students to network with potential employers, learn about job opportunities, and get a head start on their career search.
When and Where
The 2023 K-State Engineering Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the K-State Alumni Center.
Who Should Attend
All K-State engineering students are encouraged to attend the career fair. The fair is especially beneficial for students who are:
- Looking for a job or internship
- Interested in learning about different engineering careers
- Wanting to network with potential employers
How to Prepare
There are several things you can do to prepare for the career fair:
- Research employers. Visit the career fair website to see a list of participating employers. Research each employer to learn about their company, culture, and job openings.
- Prepare your resume and portfolio. Bring copies of your resume to the career fair. You may also want to bring a portfolio of your work, especially if you are interested in creative or technical fields.
- Practice your elevator pitch. An elevator pitch is a brief, 30-second introduction that you can use to introduce yourself to potential employers. Practice your elevator pitch so that you can deliver it confidently and effectively.
- Dress professionally. First impressions matter, so dress professionally for the career fair. This means wearing a suit or business casual attire.
- Be prepared to network. The career fair is a great opportunity to network with potential employers. Be friendly and approachable, and make an effort to connect with people who work in your field of interest.
What to Expect
When you arrive at the career fair, you will be greeted by a registration desk. You will need to sign in and receive a name tag. Once you have registered, you can begin browsing the employer booths.
Each employer booth will have representatives who can answer your questions about the company and its job openings. You can also submit your resume and portfolio to the representatives.
In addition to employer booths, there will also be a career fair lounge where you can relax, network with other students, and get refreshments.
After the Career Fair
After the career fair, take some time to follow up with the employers you met. Thank them for their time, and let them know if you are interested in any of their job openings.
You can also use the career fair as an opportunity to learn more about different engineering careers and to develop your networking skills.
