Car Mechanic Simulator 2021: Engine Won’t Start
Check the Battery
The battery is responsible for providing the electrical power to start the engine. If the battery is weak or dead, the engine will not be able to start.
How to check the battery:
1. Open the hood of your car.
2. Locate the battery. It is usually located in the front of the car, on the driver’s side.
3. Check the battery terminals. They should be clean and free of corrosion.
4. Use a voltmeter to test the battery voltage. The voltage should be at least 12.6 volts.
If the battery is weak or dead, you will need to:
1. Replace the battery.
2. Charge the battery. You can do this using a battery charger or by connecting jumper cables to another vehicle.
Check the Starter
The starter is responsible for turning the engine over. If the starter is not working, the engine will not be able to start.
How to check the starter:
1. Listen for the starter to engage when you turn the key. You should hear a clicking sound.
2. If you don’t hear the starter engage, check the starter relay. The starter relay is located in the fuse box.
3. If the starter relay is not working, replace it.
Check the Fuel System
The fuel system is responsible for delivering fuel to the engine. If the fuel system is not working, the engine will not be able to start.
How to check the fuel system:
1. Check the fuel level. If the fuel tank is empty, add fuel.
2. Check the fuel filter. If the fuel filter is clogged, replace it.
3. Check the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. If the fuel pump is not working, replace it.
Check the Ignition System
The ignition system is responsible for creating the spark that ignites the fuel in the engine. If the ignition system is not working, the engine will not be able to start.
How to check the ignition system:
1. Check the spark plugs. If the spark plugs are worn or fouled, replace them.
2. Check the ignition coil. If the ignition coil is not working, replace it.
3. Check the distributor cap and rotor. If the distributor cap or rotor is worn or cracked, replace them.
If you have checked all of the above and the engine still won’t start, you may need to take your car to a mechanic.
