How Do Car Engines Work?

  3. Power stroke: The spark plug ignites the air and fuel mixture, causing it to explode. This forces the piston down the cylinder, which turns the crankshaft.
  4. Exhaust stroke: The exhaust valve opens, and the piston moves up the cylinder. This pushes the exhaust gases out of the cylinder.

The crankshaft is connected to the car’s wheels, and the turning of the crankshaft causes the wheels to turn. This is how the car is able to move forward.
