Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Locate the engine
The engine is typically located in the front of the car, under the hood.
2. Remove the engine cover
The engine cover is usually held in place by a few bolts or clips. Remove these and lift off the cover.
3. Locate the oil filter
The oil filter is a cylindrical-shaped component that is located on the side of the engine. It is usually black or silver in color.
4. Remove the oil filter
Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
5. Install the new oil filter
Apply a thin layer of oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine by hand until it is snug. Then, use the oil filter wrench to tighten it another 3/4 of a turn.
6. Add oil to the engine
Use a funnel to add oil to the engine. Add oil until the oil level reaches the full mark on the dipstick.
7. Reconnect the battery
Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
8. Start the engine
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks.
9. Check the oil level
After the engine has been running for a few minutes, turn it off and check the oil level again. If the oil level is low, add more oil until it reaches the full mark on the dipstick.
