Car Engine Parts List with Pictures
Engine Block
-
The engine block is the main structural component of the engine. It houses the cylinders, crankshaft, and other moving parts.

Cylinder Head
-
The cylinder head is mounted on top of the engine block and forms the combustion chambers. It contains the valves, spark plugs, and other components.

Pistons
-
The pistons move up and down within the cylinders and compress the air-fuel mixture. They are connected to the crankshaft by connecting rods.

Crankshaft
-
The crankshaft is a rotating shaft that converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotary motion. It is connected to the transmission, which drives the wheels.

Camshaft
-
The camshaft is a shaft that controls the opening and closing of the valves. It is driven by the crankshaft.

Valves
-
The valves control the flow of air and fuel into and out of the combustion chambers.

Spark Plugs
-
The spark plugs generate the spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chambers.

Fuel Injectors
-
The fuel injectors spray fuel into the combustion chambers.

Turbocharger
-
The turbocharger is a device that increases the air pressure in the intake manifold, which results in increased engine power.

Supercharger
-
The supercharger is a similar device to the turbocharger, but it is driven by the engine’s crankshaft rather than by exhaust gases.

Oil Pump
-
The oil pump circulates oil throughout the engine to lubricate the moving parts.

Water Pump
-
The water pump circulates coolant through the engine to keep it cool.

Alternator
-
 The alternator generates electricity
