Displacement

Displacement is the total volume of the cylinders in an engine. It is measured in liters or cubic centimeters and is calculated by multiplying the bore (the diameter of the cylinders) by the stroke (the distance the pistons travel up and down). Displacement is a good indicator of the power output of an engine, as larger engines can generally produce more power.

Bore and Stroke

The bore and stroke are two of the most important dimensions of an engine. The bore is the diameter of the cylinders, while the stroke is the distance the pistons travel up and down. The bore and stroke determine the size and shape of the combustion chambers, which in turn affects the power output and efficiency of the engine.

Compression Ratio

The compression ratio is the ratio of the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke to the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at the top of its stroke. A higher compression ratio means that the air-fuel mixture is compressed more before it is ignited, which can lead to increased power and efficiency.

Valve Timing

Valve timing refers to the timing of the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves. The valve timing is critical to the performance of an engine, as it affects the flow of air and fuel into and out of the cylinders.

Horsepower

Horsepower is a measure of the power output of an engine. It is calculated by multiplying the torque (the force produced by the engine) by the revolutions per minute (RPM). Horsepower is a good indicator of the acceleration and speed of a car.

Torque

Torque is a measure of the force produced by an engine. It is measured in newton-meters (Nm) and is calculated by multiplying the force applied to the crankshaft by the length of the crankshaft arm. Torque is a good indicator of the towing and hauling capabilities of a car.
