A car engine costume

This car engine costume is perfect for anyone who loves cars! It’s made from lightweight materials, so it’s easy to wear and move around in. The costume includes a jumpsuit, a hat, and a wrench.

Materials

  • 1 yard of black fabric
  • 1/2 yard of red fabric
  • 1/4 yard of yellow fabric
  • 1/4 yard of white fabric
  • 1/4 yard of blue fabric
  • 1 package of black bias tape
  • 1 package of red bias tape
  • 1 package of yellow bias tape
  • 1 package of white bias tape
  • 1 package of blue bias tape
  • 1 pair of black gloves
  • 1 black hat
  • 1 wrench

Instructions

  1. Cut out the following pieces from the black fabric:
    • 1 jumpsuit body
    • 2 jumpsuit sleeves
    • 2 jumpsuit legs
    • 1 hat
  2. Cut out the following pieces from the red fabric:
    • 1 engine block
    • 2 cylinder heads
    • 1 oil pan
    • 1 exhaust manifold
    • 1 intake manifold
  3. Cut out the following pieces from the yellow fabric:
    • 1 timing belt
    • 1 serpentine belt
    • 1 alternator belt
  4. Cut out the following pieces from the white fabric:
    • 1 air filter
    • 1 fuel filter
    • 1 oil filter
    • 1 spark plugs
  5. Cut out the following pieces from the blue fabric:
    • 1 radiator
    • 1 coolant hoses
    • 1 battery
    • 1 starter
  6. Sew the jumpsuit body together, leaving the sleeves and legs unattached.
  7. Sew the jumpsuit sleeves to the jumpsuit body.
  8. Sew the jumpsuit legs to the jumpsuit body.
  9. Sew the hat to the jumpsuit body.
  10. Sew the engine block to the front of the jumpsuit body.
  11. Sew the cylinder heads to the top of the engine block.
  12. Sew the oil pan to the bottom of the engine block.
  13. Sew the exhaust manifold to the side of the engine block.
  14. Sew the intake manifold to the side of the engine block.
  15. Sew the timing belt to the front of the engine block.
  16. Sew the serpentine belt to the front of the engine block.
  17. Sew the alternator belt to the front of the engine block.
  18. Sew the air filter to the top of the engine block.
  19. Sew the fuel filter to the side of the engine block.
  20. Sew the oil filter to the side of the engine block.
  21. Sew the spark plugs to the top of the engine block.
  22. Sew the radiator to the front of the jumpsuit body.
  23. Sew the coolant hoses to the radiator.
  24. Sew the battery to the side of the jumpsuit body.
  25. Sew the starter to the side of the jumpsuit body.
  26. Put on the costume and gloves.
  27. Hold the wrench in your hand.
  28. You’re now ready to show off your car engine costume!
