Engine block

The engine block is the main structural component of the engine. It houses the cylinders, crankshaft, and other internal engine components. The engine block is usually made of cast iron or aluminum.

Cylinder head

The cylinder head is located at the top of the engine block. It contains the combustion chambers, valves, and spark plugs. The cylinder head is usually made of aluminum or cast iron.

Pistons

The pistons are located inside the cylinders. They move up and down to compress the air-fuel mixture and create power. The pistons are usually made of aluminum or steel.

Connecting rods

The connecting rods connect the pistons to the crankshaft. They transmit the power from the pistons to the crankshaft. The connecting rods are usually made of steel.

Crankshaft

The crankshaft is located at the bottom of the engine block. It converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotary motion. The crankshaft is usually made of steel.

Camshaft

The camshaft is located at the top of the engine block. It controls the opening and closing of the valves. The camshaft is usually made of steel.

Valves

The valves are located in the cylinder head. They control the flow of air and fuel into and out of the cylinders. The valves are usually made of steel.

Spark plugs

The spark plugs are located in the cylinder head. They provide the spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture. The spark plugs are usually made of ceramic or metal.

Fuel injector

The fuel injector is located in the cylinder head. It sprays fuel into the cylinders. The fuel injector is usually made of metal.

Air filter

The air filter is located in the intake system. It cleans the air before it enters the engine. The air filter is usually made of paper or cloth.

Exhaust system

The exhaust system consists of the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, and muffler. It removes exhaust gases from the engine. The exhaust system is usually made of steel or stainless steel.

Cooling system

The cooling system consists of the radiator, water pump, and thermostat. It keeps the engine cool. The cooling system is usually filled with water or coolant.

Lubrication system

The lubrication system consists of the oil pump, oil filter, and oil pan. It lubricates the engine components. The lubrication system is usually filled with oil.
