History of BMW V8 Engines

BMW first introduced a V8 engine in 1954. This engine was a 3.2-liter unit that produced 200 horsepower. It was used in the BMW 502 luxury sedan.

In 1962, BMW introduced a more powerful 4.0-liter V8 engine that produced 250 horsepower. This engine was used in the BMW 3200 CS coupe.

In 1968, BMW introduced a new generation of V8 engines that were designed by Karlheinz Lange. These engines were more powerful and efficient than their predecessors. The first of these engines was a 3.0-liter unit that produced 200 horsepower. It was used in the BMW 2500 sedan.

In 1971, BMW introduced a more powerful 3.5-liter V8 engine that produced 252 horsepower. This engine was used in the BMW 3.5 CS coupe.
