Lincoln Town Car Engine
Introduction
The Lincoln Town Car is a full-size luxury sedan that was produced by Ford Motor Company from 1981 to 2011. It was the flagship model of the Lincoln brand and was available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Town Car was powered by a variety of engines over the years, including V6, V8, and V10 engines.
V6 Engines
The first V6 engine used in the Town Car was a 3.8-liter unit that was introduced in 1981. This engine produced 130 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. In 1984, the 3.8-liter V6 was replaced by a 4.2-liter V6 that produced 140 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque.
V8 Engines
The first V8 engine used in the Town Car was a 5.0-liter unit that was introduced in 1982. This engine produced 155 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. In 1985, the 5.0-liter V8 was replaced by a more powerful 5.8-liter V8 that produced 170 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque.
In 1991, the Town Car received a new engine lineup that included a 4.6-liter V8 and a 4.6-liter V8 HO (High Output). The 4.6-liter V8 produced 205 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, while the 4.6-liter V8 HO produced 215 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque.
In 1995, the Town Car received a new 4.6-liter V8 engine that produced 220 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. This engine was also used in the Mustang GT and the Ford Explorer.
In 1998, the Town Car received a new 4.6-liter V8 engine that produced 235 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque. This engine was also used in the Ford Crown Victoria and the Mercury Grand Marquis.
In 2003, the Town Car received a new 4.6-liter V8 engine that produced 239 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque. This engine was also used in the Ford Crown Victoria and the Mercury Grand Marquis.
V10 Engines
In 1996, the Town Car received a new 6.8-liter V10 engine that produced 300 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. This engine was also used in the Ford Excursion and the Lincoln Navigator.
In 2003, the 6.8-liter V10 engine was replaced by a more powerful 5.4-liter V10 engine that produced 302 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. This engine was also used in the Ford Excursion and the Lincoln Navigator.
