Engine Block
The engine block is the main structural component of the engine. It houses the cylinders, crankshaft, and other internal components.
Cylinder Head
The cylinder head is located at the top of the engine block and seals the combustion chamber. It contains the valves, spark plugs, and other components.
Pistons
Pistons are cylindrical-shaped components that move up and down within the cylinders. They are connected to the crankshaft by connecting rods.
Connecting Rods
Connecting rods connect the pistons to the crankshaft. They allow the pistons to move up and down while the crankshaft rotates.
Crankshaft
The crankshaft is a rotating shaft that converts the up-and-down motion of the pistons into rotational motion.
Camshaft
The camshaft is a shaft that controls the opening and closing of the valves. It is driven by the crankshaft.
Valves
Valves are devices that allow air and fuel to enter the cylinders and exhaust gases to exit.
Spark Plugs
Spark plugs create the spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders.
Fuel Injectors
Fuel injectors spray fuel into the cylinders.
Air Intake System
The air intake system provides air to the engine. It includes the air filter, intake manifold, and throttle body.
Exhaust System
The exhaust system removes exhaust gases from the engine. It includes the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, and muffler.
Cooling System
The cooling system keeps the engine cool. It includes the radiator, water pump, and thermostat.
Lubrication System
The lubrication system circulates oil throughout the engine to reduce friction and wear.
Electrical System
The electrical system provides power to the engine and its components. It includes the battery, alternator, and starter.
